replacement tent poles

April 8th, 2009

Camping tents are one of the biggest purchases when buying camping gear. Experts consider several factors in choosing the right tent to buy. First of all, it is important to know the time of year that you will be using the tent and under what conditions. Tents come in various materials. The more common are nylon and canvas. Nylon works well because it is light yet provides adequate protection. Another advantage of nylon tents is that it will keep water at bay in rainy situations. Canvas is a very strong material but it does not allow for ‘breathing’. In hot conditions, it can be an uncomfortable shelter for campers. Another disadvantage is that it is heavy so that set-up as well as breaking down will need too much effort.

When choosing a tent, look into its ventilation. Fresh air is actually what you want from camping. A tent without proper ventilation can negate this purpose. While you’re in the store, ask about replacement tent poles. You are bound to be needing these at one time or another.
