Kids always get excited when introduced to new environment. Just allowing them to bunk out in the backyard with some friends is already an exhilarating experience. It is the start of learning to do things on their own outdoors even if they can always knock on the back door when they get hungry or become afraid of the dark. But usually, when they are with siblings or friends they will want to prove themselves. They will want to show mom and dad that they are up to the challenge.
Of course, we have to prepare them for their outdoor excursion (in the backyard). The first thing to consider is that they are protected from the elements. They will need a sturdy tent that will withstand sudden weather changes. And then they will need kids sleeping bags and the right garments. Send them away with a box full of games, snacks and emergency items such as flashlights and a radio.
