When my friends invited me to go with them on a camping trip, I got too excited and bought a lot of things that I thought might be needed once we get to the campsite. Little did I know that many of the stuff that I purchased are not considered as camping essentials. Besides, bringing all of them would mean me carrying almost a truckload of items. My friends helped me to choose the most important among the things that I bought.

Some of the things I’ve included in my camping backpack are a portable stove and a camping cookware. Next I got are stainless utensils. After completing my camping essentials, we finally took off and went camping. Going to the campsite was too exhausting; all of us were so tired that we cannot cook anymore. We ended up eating nuts and trail mix.

dutch ovens

I love to go on camping trips. I remember going on my first camping trip when I was in grade school. My dad and I would cook hotdogs in the fire while my mom would make fresh biscuits from the one of the two dutch ovens we brought. My mom would use the other dutch oven for making beef casserole which she learned from grandma. Soon afterwards my dad enrolled me in the Boy Scouts.

I loved my days as a Boy Scout. It was there where I met my best friends Peter and Paolo. We would go after our badges together and say horror stories by the fire while our food was being cooked in dutch ovens. Even today as parents, Paolo, Peter and I would go on camping trips together with our kids. I even bring the dutch oven my mom used to own.
