camping hammocks

June 5th, 2009

My husband boyfriend I have such different personalities. He loves the outdoors and quiet evenings, I on the other hand love the city, shopping and going to clubs. We’ve been together for ten years so despite our difference we have made an effort to be together. Recently, my husband went on a camping trip with his buddies. He packed his tent, a mini stove and some camping hammocks.

They were planning to be away for about three days. I had no intention of joining them since I knew I would not survive the outdoors for more than a day. I did not mind that there were girls with them, I trusted my husband completely. So yesterday, I drove him to his friend’s house and helped him unload his tent and camping hammocks. I treated myself to some well deserved pampering at the spa and some long overdue shopping while he was gone.

folding camping chair

June 5th, 2009

Camping is a very fun outdoor activity for the whole family. Everyone can gather around the campfire and tell scary stories or just the adventures they had the whole day. But sitting on logs or on the ground can be quite uncomfortable. So, a folding camping chair is definitely a great camping equipment to take along.

These folding chairs are very portable and easy to pack. They have wide and comfortable seating that have a lot of support. They can support up to 325 lbs and are just perfect for the outdoors. They come in different colors so maybe you can find one that matches your tent or sleeping bags.

Optimus Nova stove

June 5th, 2009

My office mates are planning a camping trip next month. I declined the invitation. I was never interested in camping. I would much rather go to the beach and stay at a resort. Yesterday, they started bringing in their gear; they had an Optimus Nova stove, a few tents and some pricey hiking boots.

They assembled their tents for practice in our vacant room. They showed me how the Optimus Nova stove worked and even gave me some of the food they cooked using the stove. I have to say that I am quite impressed. They fully intend to have a good time and be one with nature. They asked me one last time to join them but I stood my ground. I had other things planned for the summer.

A camping trip can be as rough as it can be but at the end of the day, everybody needs to have a good meal. A camping stove is always a must for every outdoor adventure. You can prepare the barest of meals or really cook up a storm in one of them.

There are different kinds of camping stoves available for every type of camper. If you just want to travel light and need just to heat one pot every time, a single burner foldable canister stove is all you need. It is very lightweight and compact but can support a large pot. rib rack

June 5th, 2009

There is something special about camp cooking. Everybody has a robust appetite and whatever you cook seems to taste so good. One of the favorite recipes to serve on outings like this is barbecued pork ribs. All you need is enough pork ribs for everybody and a jar of barbecue sauce. Smother ribs with sauce until fully covered. Put the marinated ribs on a rib rack and stick all into your grill. Leave for a couple of hours until ribs are tender and are almost ready to fall apart.

The beauty of this recipe is that you can do some home preparation to save you time on the campsite. You can prepare a soup ahead of time, freeze it and reheat on site for an accompanying dish. Remember to cover pots whenever you are cooking outdoors. Food will get done quicker and you will save on fuel. It will also keep dirt and insects away from your food.

Gregory backpacks

June 3rd, 2009

It was year 2000 when I got hooked on camping and hiking. I love the outdoors as well as the gear that comes with it. I started buying Backpacker magazines and was amazed at all the gears. What I loved the most are the jackets and tents as well as Gregory backpacks. Not only are they very functional they also look great!

Around the same time also, I had the opportunity to spend a month in Hawaii. I visited all the islands and loved every minute of it. I went hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, and surfing. The Gregory backpacks I bought prior to the trip was well used and lived up to its billing as one of the finest backpacks out there. Traveling extensively throughout my trip, I broke the two luggages I was carrying. Only my Gregory Backpack survived that trip.
