People do lots of things when going on a break. Sometimes, they hit the beach and get a tan in some tropical island overseas. Others go on theme parks to have some exciting fun. Hiking with the gang is fun. You can set up a base camp somewhere and explore the surrounding areas during the day. At night, you can all come “home” to the camp to rest and recharge your energies for the next day’s adventures. Sleeping accommodations, such as 6 person tents, are ideal for groups of four to six people.

When planning a camping cum hiking trip, list down all the necessities you have to bring and distribute the load to each member of the group. Designate people who will bring things such as lanterns, cooking utensils, a portable stove, water storage, and more. Keep in mind that the supplies you’ll need would depend on how many days you plan to be away. So prepare accordingly.

Camping with Friends

Camping and hiking out in the wild requires portable cookware. Whenever my friends and I plan our one of our nature trips, we always include my cast iron sandwich maker in the list. We use this trusty piece of cooking equipment to grill sandwiches and heat other foods in. It’s easy to clean although it can be a bit heavy.

When we’re too tired to cook, we also have trail mixes, beef jerky, and some canned goods we can prepare in a jiffy. Later at night, we would just roast marshmallows on a small bonfire while we gaze up at the stars. I love these adventures with my friends. They always refresh us and make us ready to face a new week of office work when we return to the city.

Family Affair

Some of the most memorable childhood memories I have are the times I went camping with my family. The first time I was ten. We went camping and fishing somewhere upstate. It was also the first time I caught a fish by myself. Our sleeping quarters was a 4 person tent. We all loved it except for my mom

The 4 person tent was just the right size for us. We were two adults and two kids. A separate tent housed my cousins and their parents. We ate what we caught plus a few hotdogs and fried chicken. It’s an experience I will cherish forever. It’s an experience I want to share with my boy. Since my wife is not the camping type, it will be a father son trip. Hopefully he’ll cherish it and pass it on to his kids.

Time to Camp

You have just reached the camp site. Looking around it, you see the place where you and your family usually set up your tent. You smell the clean fresh air while you take out all the things that you will need from your truck. You smile when you see your kids running towards the lake, smiling as they take their fishing rods with them. They forgot to bring the bait again.

You call them back to the truck to hand them the bait. And as your eldest reaches for it, you look at his face and know that he is having a great time. You head over to your favorite spot and set up your tent. And as your wife begins to cook the meal, you check if you have the lights, fan and all the other tent accessories in order. It’s time to relax with nature.

You are on your way to the camp site. You’re friends have been there hours ahead. And because you couldn’t leave work early, you told them to go ahead without you. Of course you promised to follow and you are driving to the site. You are looking forward to some rest and relaxation. You want to go fishing and hunting.

While you are maneuvering your truck through the dirt road, you think if you brought all the stuff that you need. You have a few cans of food, some clothes, your fishing and hunting gear and a tent. Your friends sent you a text message, telling you that they forgot to bring a knife. Good thing you have a couple of Victorinox knives with you.

Determining Your Heating Needs

The thing with portable heaters is that you have to be aware of the size that needs heating. If it is only a small semi-covered space in your back yard, a tabletop outdoor heater will probably suffice. If you are planning to entertain a dozen or more people, you will need several large patio heaters to keep everybody comfortable. You might think of using electrically powered space heaters because they are more convenient. But propane heaters will offer more advantages.

Using a propane heating system is significantly cheaper than heating with electricity. They are also more durable. Another advantage of propane heating systems is that they are now available in smaller sizes. This is important for homes with limited space. Get an expert to install your heating system and take advantage of their expertise and experience.
