Maybe because I was a first time camper, I was excited to bring too many items. I did not know what to expect with what we were going to cook and eat, and initially I wanted to bring our portable gas stove plus our char broil gas grille. My husband decided the latter was enough. It was good to bring because it was also portable, easy to clean and not at all cumbersome.
The campsite had a lake nearby whereby fishing was allowed. We caught some healthy looking fish and cooked that. We also had a freezer bag which contained food items for grilling. We cooked that right away on the first night, to avoid spoilage. At that point, the “roughing it” part grew on me. I was beginning to fall in love with camping.

Even though certain comforts are compromised when you spend sometime outdoors, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you cannot enjoy freshly cooked meals. There may be ready-to-eat snacks that you can bring, but nothing beats nourishing yourself with warm food. This is why a camping stove should be on the top of your checklist when planning for a camping trip. It is definitely designed to be portable, lightweight and compact making it perfect for backpacking.
The camping stove comes in many different designs and models. It is typically made of durable and stainless material that could withstand constant and prolonged use. This commonly consists of a fuel tank, burner and pot supports. The most common fuels used are alcohol or propane.
